Shake up your regular evening dinner party and do a weekend brunch instead!! Join Chef Marisa Jones in learning how to master brunch essentials and prepare a banging brunch with confidence! From Eggs Benedict to Stuffed French Toast to Biscuits and Gravy, learn the techniques that have made these dishes classics that you’ll serve all year long!
We’ll make 3 dishes in class, each with a variety of components and techniques. Teams of 4 will work together to create their recipe and at the end of class we’ll all talk about our creations and learnings and have a brunch spread to enjoy complete with mimosas (if older than 21) or OJ. Participants will receive the recipes for all.

At The Flour District we make our usual scone recipe the traditional way with all-purpose flours, but have developed a new recipe that is gluten-free. We’d love to share the technique and ingredients we use to create them with our GF friends! We’ll talk about how to make them sweet or savory, and perfectly flavorful and fluffy. You’ll choose from a variety of ingredients to create your scones, bake them during class, and learn how to add the finishing touch of glaze. You can pack them up for home or enjoy one in the Teaching Kitchen and congratulate yourself on a job well done!
Each participant will receive a glass of wine (if older than 21) and take home scones from class, plus the recipe.

Pâte à Choux (say: pat-a-shoe) is the delicious and delicate pastry that is the base for cream puffs, eclairs, savory gougeres and fancy profiteroles —to name a few! Curious how to make them all? Then join professional pastry chef, Emma Luster, in this choux class to learn the basics. Attendees will mix their choux dough, learn how to pipe proper cream puff and eclair shapes, and bake off the dough. You’ll learn how to make crème diplomat then fill and decorate your pastries.
Attendees may enjoy a glass of wine (if older than 21) and will take home their pastries baked in class, plus the recipes.

The Flour District is proud to partner with the historic Pierce Street Gardens to bring you this special workshop! Attendees will meet up at the garden where Master Gardener Hayley Jones will guide you through the rich history of this 100% organic, urban oasis and explain how sustainable agriculture thrives in the heart of the city.
Hayley will take you through the vibrant rows of crops where you’ll hand-pick the crispest, freshest vegetables and herbs straight from the vines for your custom pickle creations. Then we’ll head back to The Flour District Teaching Kitchen where our chef will teach you knife skills, how to create flavorful brines along with the process of fermentation, and the art of balancing sweet, savory, and tangy flavor profiles.
You’ll pack your own custom jars of gourmet pickles to take with you and leave the class with the confidence to pickle anything at home!
Attendees will provide their own transportation to and from Pierce St. Garden located behind the Calloway Store at 1301 Pierce Street to The Flour District located at 2204 Bedford Ave. Please meet at the garden at 12 noon.

Dive into the heart of Italian culinary tradition with Chef and Owner of Scratch Pasta, Stephanie Fees. This hands-on experience is designed to introduce both beginners and seasoned food enthusiasts to the art of making perfect pasta and raviolis from scratch. You'll start by learning the secrets to preparing the ideal dough and hand-made gourmet fillings. Then, you'll transform your dough into delicate sheets ready to be filled with your choice of fillings.
You’ll bring home as many raviolis as you can make in class to share your new-found culinary talents with friends and family. You’ll also take home a tub of marinara sauce, and recipes for the pasta dough, filling, and sauce. During class enjoy a ravioli snack prepared by Stephanie and a glass of wine (if older than 21).

"Galette" sounds like a fancy word, but it's really just an easy-going free-form pie! Come learn in this hands-on class how to craft beautiful fall apple galettes that may later find their way to your Thanksgiving or Christmas celebration table. We’ll teach you how to make the dough, roll it out, fill, and bake your galettes in class.

Here’s your opportunity to learn not simply the risotto basics, but how to jazz up any standard risotto recipe. We’ll show you how to make classic risotto using special arborio rice as the base, but we’ll also make risotto with two more starchy base varieties - farro and orzo! The beauty of the “risotto technique” is that it is a blank slate to convey any flavor that you like while having the versatility to try other bases and a slew of flavorful toppings!
In this class you will work with a partner to craft 1 of the 3 base risotto recipes from start to finish using the “risotto technique”. Then you’ll compose your dish by adding the finishing touches like Swiss Chard & Parmesan or Porcini Mushroom & Crispy Shallots with Pecorino or Pancetta & Shrimp with Peas. You’ll share your dish with the class and all will enjoy dining on all three dishes.
Each participant will also take home the recipes and receive a glass of wine (if older than 21).

Discover what makes Southern Italian cooking special in this second part of our Italian Cooking series. In this class we’ll cover 3 regional dishes: Eggplant Caponata Crostini, Shrimp & Calabrian Chili Pasta with Cherry Tomatoes, White Wine & Lemon, and Sicilian Fennel, Orange & Olive Salad. We’ll cover the techniques used to coax the flavor out of overlooked ingredients like eggplant and make seemingly unexpected ingredient pairings of fennel and oranges. Plus learn how to roll, cut, and cook fresh pasta in a simple, yet tasty, dish.
Participants will work in teams to create their dishes. All participants will enjoy dining on their creations at the end of class, receive the recipes, plus enjoy a glass of wine (if older than 21).

Light and flaky buttery goodness, puff pastry is a very versatile base for many desserts as well as savory creations. In this class, learn about classic puff pastry dough technique (the long version) and see how to make a “rough puff” dough (the quick version). You’ll also make your own savory puff pastry tart choosing from an array of savory ingredients. Then practice working with more puff pastry dough to create a beautiful sweet Napoleon (classic layered dessert) with a delicious hazelnut cream filling made by you!
