Join Pastry Chef Emma as she walks you through the steps to make your own whoopie pies just in time for Valentine’s Day. We’ll cover how to mix and bake the cakes, plus create the gooey creamy centers. We’ll assemble your treats in class and you take home the rest to your sweetie.

New to sourdough bread baking or want to learn more? Let Brian Ray from Slowpoke Sourdough Bakehouse show you how to create, maintain, shape, and bake with a sourdough starter made with regionally sourced and locally milled flour. In this combo hands-on, instructional and demo workshop, you will take home a bread-proofing basket, dough scraper, tea towel, sourdough starter, expert knowledge & techniques, and dough made in class to bake off your own country sourdough loaf at home and many more future loaves. Enjoy a light, seasonal, and gourmet lunch and sample fresh bread!

If you’ve made classic risotto before, here is a chance to mix up your favorite recipe! If you’ve never given it a try, this is your opportunity to learn risotto basics, plus how to jazz up any standard risotto recipe using different grains. The beauty of the “risotto technique” is that it is a blank slate to convey any flavor that you like while incorporating healthy grains onto your meal!
In this class you’ll learn how to make this creamy dish using 3 different grains and compose your dish by adding finishing touches like Roasted Butternut Squash with Crispy Pancetta and Sage, Roasted Beets with Herb Crusted Goat Cheese Medallions and Balsamic Glaze, or Sautéed Shrimp and Parsley Breadcrumbs.
Participants will craft their risotto recipes from start to finish, and enjoy dining on all 3 versions of the dishes in class, take home the recipes, also receive a glass of wine or beer (if older than 21) or a fizzy water.

Take a peek inside the amazing world of Asian dumpling making and dim sum! In this introductory course, Chef Marisa Jones will teach participants how to make a variety of handmade wontons, shumai, spring rolls, and steamed buns using traditional methods and ingredients. Learn how to expertly fold and craft dumplings, use a bamboo steamer, and properly deep fry.
Participants will make and dine on a dim sum meal in class and take home their own bamboo steamer. Plus enjoy a glass of wine, beer, or bubbly water (if over 21).

Discover what makes Northern Italian cooking special in this first part of our Italian Cooking series. In this class we’ll cover 3 classic regional dishes: Crostini con Fagioli e Rosmarino (Toasted bread with garlic-braised white beans and rosemary), Pollo alla Ligure (Chicken braised with white wine, rosemary, and olives), and Risotto con Verze e Guanciale (Cabbage and cured-pork risotto). We’ll cover the techniques used to coax the flavor out of humble ingredients like beans, chicken, and rice and dive into what sets this region apart.
Participants will work in teams of two to create their dishes. Each participant will enjoy dining on their creations at the end of class, receive the recipes and a glass of wine or beer (if older than 21) or a fizzy water.

Wether for Oktoberfest, the “big game” or just a fun snack, join us for making soft pretzels! Professional baker Emma Luster will teach participants how to make their dough, shape the pretzels, and bake them for the iconic pretzel flavor and texture. And no pretzel is complete without a proper sprinkle of salt plus mustard and a cheesy dipping sauce made in class.

Is making pie dough, rolling it out, then baking a whole pie your kitchen nemesis? Then let us take the pressure off you by making fun-size and cute hand pies! Learn from our head baker, Kayla, how to mix and roll out a tender and easy to work with pie dough. (You can use it for whole pies, too!) Then choose your pie fillings, form your hand pies, and bake them in class! Learn how to pick complimentary filling flavors and even how to turn them into savory pies.

Let’s navigate a journey into the wide world of Mediterranean flavors! Through these dishes you’ll discover culinary traditions from many of the countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, including Greece, Italy, Spain, parts of North Africa, and the Middle East.
Learn to prepare a combination of hand’s on and demo’d dishes with Chef Marisa Jones. You’ll make kofta learning the secrets to a perfectly spiced, shaped, and roasted meatball. Plus mini spanakopita (phyllo spinach pies) learning the tips and tricks of working with phyllo dough for a flakey, crunchy and savory snack. We’ll demo a creamy homemade hummus that will kick store-bought to the curb, plus put together a jazzy tzatziki-style sauce. Then feast on all of the creations!
Each participant will also enjoy a glass of wine or beer (if older than 21) or a fizzy water. Enjoy some food in class and take home the rest along with recipes for all.

Pâte à Choux (say: pat-a-shoe) is the delicious and delicate pastry that is the base for cream puffs, eclairs, savory gougeres and fancy profiteroles —to name a few! Curious how to make them all? Then join professional pastry chef, Emma Luster, in this choux class to learn the basics. Attendees will mix their choux dough, learn how to pipe proper cream puff and eclair shapes, and bake off the dough. You’ll learn how to make crème diplomat then fill and decorate your pastries.
Attendees will take home their pastries baked in class, plus the recipes.

This sweet little French tart will have you saying "Ooh la la ma chérie!" Learn to craft this impressive and beautiful dessert using clever shortcuts and expert techniques. We’ll walk you through making pâte sucrée tart crust (basically short bread cookie dough) and the frangipane filling (almond spread). Then pick from an array of fruits to create your own tart, bake it in class, and take it home with you! Voilà!
Each participant will take home their fully baked tart plus, tart dough, plus recipes.

Join Aaron and Emma, pizza maestros and founders of Slice Versa, their mobile wood-fired pizza oven, for an evening of pizza making and cooking in the professional pizza rig! Aaron will demonstrate how to make proper pizza sauce and also all of the ins and outs of pizza dough (yeast, flour, proofing, oh my!). Participants will stretch and form their own pizzas using authentic techniques including the “Neapolitan slap”! You’ll top the pizzas, and Emma will show you how to cook in the mobile pizza oven, then enjoy some pizza as we wrap up class.

Dive into the heart of Italian culinary tradition with Chef and Owner of Scratch Pasta, Stephanie Fees. This hands-on experience is designed to introduce both beginners and seasoned food enthusiasts to the art of making perfect pasta and raviolis from scratch. You'll start by learning the secrets to preparing the ideal dough and hand-made gourmet fillings. Then, you'll transform your dough into delicate sheets ready to be filled with your choice of fillings.
You’ll bring home as many raviolis as you can make in class to share your new-found culinary talents with friends and family. You’ll also take home a tub of marinara sauce, and recipes for the pasta dough and sauce. Join professional baker Emma Luster to learn how to make basic bagel dough, then shape the dough into the iconic bagel ring. You’ll learn the multi-step cooking process while customizing your bagel flavors. You’ll also learn to create a “schmear” for topping. Once baked to perfection, you can enjoy those bagels at our bagel brunch bar stocked with all the fixings ….plus mimosas!

If perfectly cooking fish, scallops, or shrimp has been out of your reach or too intimidating to try, this is your class! We’ll take each one of these ingredients and show you a fail-proof technique for preparing it with ease! In class we’ll sear scallops and poach shrimp to make 2 quick composed appetizers, then make fish “en papillote” (paper pouch) and pick from a variety of flavor inclusions. Welcome to The Flour District’s Baking Series Classes! In session #1, attendees will learn all about buttercream frostings. You’ll make buttercream, and our cake professional will walk you through 3 types of buttercreams (Swiss, American, and Italian). You’ll watch a piping demo and learn all the basics like petals, ribbons, ruffles, scroll work, and writing to practice in class with help from our expert.
In session #2 attendees will mix and bake 8-inch vanilla cake layers, learning the do’s and don’ts of cake making. We’ll recap piping from session 1 then learn a few more advanced piping techniques to practice.
In session #3 attendees will assemble and decorate their cakes. You’ll learn the secrets of a flavored syrup soak plus other handy tricks. Then our cake professional will demonstrate how to properly stack layers, apply a crumb coating, then expertly apply and smooth out the buttercream frosting. Attendees will assert their new decorating confidence to make their own cake works of art!
Class durations will be about 1 - 1.5 hours per session. We’ll store your cakes for class and provide all necessary equipment. Attendees will take home their beautifully decorated cake plus a piping tip set.
